To Make An Appointment:

New Patients
To make a new patient appointment with one of our Neurosurgeons, please call (757) 625-4455 and dial extension 3303 in order to speak with a staff member who will provide immediate assistance. If the staff member at this extension is unavailable at the time you call, please leave a detailed voicemail message and your call will be returned within 1 business day.  You may also request an appointment via our patient portal (established patient)

Appointment Cancellations
If you need to cancel an appointment, we ask that you please provide a minimum of 24 hours notice or you may be held personally responsible for a $50 no-show fee.

What to bring to your appointment

If you are a new patient please arrive 15-20 minutes prior to your appointment time so that you may complete the necessary paperwork. 

New patients must also bring the following items to your initial appointment with our Practice.

  • All patient information, insurance cards and co-pays
  • A valid referral from your Primary Care Physician (PCP) when required by your insurance carrier.
  • All scans (X-Ray, CT and/or MRI), diagnostic reports and medical records that are pertinent to the issue being addressed at this visit.
  • A current list of medication(s), dosage amount and frequency.

Please note that our Physician's see their patients in appointment time order, not arrival time.

Prescription Refills:

New Prescriptions
All new prescriptions should be requested at the time of your appointment or during normal Practice hours.

Prescription Refills
Patients must request prescription refills from their pharmacy. It takes approximately 48 hours to process refills. You should plan ahead with this in mind and order refills so as to avoid running out of medication. Please note that our Physicians will not refill any medications for pain or other medicinal needs during the evening or weekend hours.

Call-In Prescriptions
Patients, who are in need of a refill for a prescription medication which can be called in to the pharmacy, are asked to please contact their pharmacy, request a refill and ask that the request be faxed to (757) 625-1829.  In most cases, prescription refill requests of this nature will be addressed within 24-hours of receipt however, in some instances; it may take up to 48 hours from the time of receipt to process the request.

Written Prescriptions
Patients who are in need of a written prescription for medication, are asked to please contact our office at (757) 625-4455, extension 3303 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday to speak with a staff memeber or to leave a voicemail message to which a response will be provided within 48 hours of request with the exception of weekends and holidays. Please do not call for a written prescription on Friday's, we typically do not have a physician in to sign prescriptions.  Please note that there are exceptions to this time frame due to various business-related circumstances, therefore, we suggest that when you submit a request for written prescriptions, bearing in mind the possibility that such a delay could be encountered.

Emergency Care:

If you experience a medical emergency that you feel is related to the medical condition that you are being treated for by our Physicians, please call our office as one of our Physicians is on call at all times. In the event that an urgent medical matter emerges after hours, you can reach a representative at our answering service who will obtain your information and if necessary will contact the Physician on call.

If you believe that you have a life-threatening condition or that a delay in medical care could result in a life-threatening situation, you should proceed to the nearest emergency medical facility of call 911.  After seeking emergency treatment, we ask that the patient or a family member notify our office as soon as possible regarding their medical condition.

Emergency medical care is available 24-hours a day every day of the year. Based on the severity of your emergency:

  • Call (757) 625-4455 and someone from the answering service will forward your information to the Physician on call;
  • Proceed directly to your local emergency room where the hospital staff will contact your Physician about your current condition;
  • Call 911.

After Hours Telephone Calls:

If there is a medical emergency and you need to contact one of our Physician's after normal office hours, our answering service will forward your message to the Physician on call. Depending upon the specific circumstances of a patient's condition, each call is then forwarded to the On-Call Physician who will assess the needs of the patient.  Please note that if the situation is not emergent in nature then your call may not be returned until the next morning.  In many instances the Physician will advise you to seek care in the emergency room where you may be properly evaluated in an appropriate medical setting.  This service is available for your "urgent medical needs only", any requests for prescription medication, appointments, billing or other administrative issues will be addressed by our staff during regular business hours.
